Falling

Falling
Falling isn’t fun it hurts, it breaks bones, it causes pain and it can kill you. Even a soft tissue injury means PAIN.

When you are in the bathroom and the floor gets wet it’s a possible fall risk.
When you’re in the tub or shower it’s a possible fall risk. When you are in a new bathroom with a new floor, bathtub and shower be aware before you turn on the water.
When your walking on the sidewalk, street or in a store. It’s a fall risk.

People protect yourself.

Be aware!
When in the bathroom use rugs, towels on the floor and if the tub or shower is slippery use a bath mat.

FALLING IS NOT FUN. IT HURTS.

YOU MISS DAYS AT WORK.

Glasses or Computer Glasses Make A Laptop A Desktop

If you wear glasses and have graduated into bifocals or blended glasses, now is the time your monitor will start giving you big problems, just to see what is printed on the screen.

Try wearing computer/reading glasses. This way you do not need to constantly adjust your head and neck and will be able to see the computer screen easier.

I have been wearing computer/reading glasses for about seven years and I can’t see the computer screen comfortably with any other glasses.

Blended glasses work also, where you can see distance and close up. When your doctor is making up the prescription for your glasses tell her/him you need them for the computer.  You'll never regret it.

Hand Pain Hand Splints Make A Laptop A Desktop

Hand Splints   Pro or Con

When you have hand pain the only other option the doctors love to tell you is to wear a hand splint.

Nobody likes to work wearing an uncomfortable, nonconforming hand splint.

You can’t bend your fingers and your writing turns into chicken scratch.
If you have ever worn a hand splint you know what I am talking about.

Removing a hand splint is a huge step and I do not advise you to jump. There are many hand problems that are more complicated than mine that require a hand splint. The hand is an extremely complicated mechanism and I would not remove a hand splint without a doctor’s consent.

Stressed:

When you get stressed sitting at your computer, take a break.
Stretch your body in all different directions to get your blood flowing.
Sitting for long stretches your body starts tightening and eventually you will feel pain.

You can do neck, hand and arm stretching exercises sitting at your computer.
Punching keys on a computer can get out some aggression but taking a walk around the block, working out at the gym or swimming will be better for your physical and mental health.

Trick of The Trade:

Lower your keyboard.
The keyboard should be waist high.
Reaching in an upward position will stop blood flow and cause pain.
See Diagram in the beginning of the book.

Why Do You Think This Is Important?
Blood flows in a downward motion circulating throughout your body.
Keeping your mind and body functioning.
The keyboard should be at waist level.
Your hand and arms will rest comfortably on it and be relaxed.
Place a Love My Hand Pad underneath your keyboard to cushion your hands and arms.
You will notice the difference immediately.

Stapler vs Electric Stapler Make A Laptop A Desk Top

When you have hand pain or even if you don't have hand pain a electric stapler is a winner.

I have had, arm, shoulder and neck pain for over 20 years. When I worked in an office it seemed all I did was staple.

I asked several times for an electric stapler and it was always rejected. In later years before I retired from office work, electric staplers were finding there way into the office.

I don't understand employers. They would rather have their employees work in pain and turn in a work comp claim rather than work with the employee, their work station, and the equipment they use so they are pain free and do not file a work comp claim.

When you are on the job or working out of your home office an electric stapler is definitely a winner.

When you staple with a standard stapler you are constantly slamming your hand against the stapler.

With an electric stapler there is not any trauma to your hand, arm or shoulder.

It is faster and more efficient.

If you employer will not issue you an electric stapler. Buy your own.

People who use an electric stapler will never switch.
